Welcome to a new concept for lower-level learners of Spanish: flash fiction. Engaging and compelling short stories of less than 400 words each, these stories span a variety of genres and themes. These flash pieces are excellent ways to get novice- and early intermediate-level learners to enjoy reading. Also great for heritage speakers learning to read in Spanish. Here are some key features:

• each story has embedded questions to break up the story into even smaller chunks for ease of use in class

• each story is followed by a comprehension “discourse scramble” and an interactive task based on a theme in the story
